Joan Leacock

Born in the United Kingdom of Caribbean parents, Joan initially made a career in law. She then moved into the tourism industry quite by accident. It was whilst working as a cabin crew member for an international airline that she found her forte. She earned a Masters in Tourism Management and Marketing from Surrey University in England before becoming a lecturer at Hackney College for five years on the tourism and hospitality industry including sales and marketing and sustainable development.

Joan works as a freelance consultant in the Caribbean. In her work she is responsible for the coordination and management of training and development assignments, assessing and reviewing quality standards and certification for companies in the travel industry.

She combines her love of travel with her work and encourages others to truly embrace the appreciation of different cultures and peoples from around the world. Joan has visited 40 countries including much of Europe, parts of North America including Alaska, Caribbean, Australia, some parts of Africa, (Cape Town, Morocco, Nigeria, Ghana, Tunisia), United Arab Emirates, Singapore, Thailand and Bangalore, India.
