Laura Scheiber
Laura Scheiber got bit by the travel bug during her sophomore year in college when she completed a study abroad program in Merida, Mexico. The bug bite has only gotten worse and since then, she has traveled to 24 countries. She has lived in Spain, Ecuador, and Brazil.
Realizing that this obsession with international travel wasn’t going away, Laura decided to combine her passion for education and intercultural interaction and completed a Masters degree from Teachers College, Columbia University in International Educational Development. During her graduate studies she fell in love with capoeira, an Afro-Brazilian martial art and dance, which introduced her to the wonderful world of Brazil.
She is now a doctoral student in International Comparative Education and sociology and just finished nine months of doctoral research in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. A Fulbright Scholar, she studied the learning trajectories of social entrepreneurs dedicated to violence prevention and youth empowerment. Laura’s future plans entail making a positive difference in the world and having a good laugh along the way.
You sound like a great young woman. The world needs people like you. Thank you.
