Historian (Javeriana University, Bogotá), photographer (University of Bogotá), community radio expert (Tavistock House of Education, London) and MA in communications (Simon Fraser University, Canada), Amparo Cadavid is professor of Communication for Social Change, and a senior research fellow at the Faculty of Communications of the Pontificia Javeriana University in Bogotá, Colombia.
She has combined her research activity in various countries with the production of visual material such as videos and photography. She has a collection of photographs of the Amazon Jungle and its habitants started in 1970, showing the destruction of the forest in the past 30 years.
